Open Trip October 2025

Are you interested in going on a mission trip with us? Join us this fall in Chiapas, Mexico, as we finish building a church for a local community in need, evangelize in the area surrounding the church, and partner with the pastor to present the Gospel through “The Jesus Film.” From a practical perspective, you will spend the week painting, building benches, mixing concrete, and serving a community in need. You will also visit a local orphanage and spend time loving on the kids. From a personal perspective, you will meet new people, experience a new worldview, gain perspective, and be challenged to step out of your comfort zone. It will be an incredible week of ministry, and we hope you will join us! Here are the details:

Where: Our team will be serving in the remote village of Liquidambar. Because of its distance from our headquarters in Chenalhó, we’ll be spending two nights on-site in the village.

Accommodations will be simple but sufficient—team members will sleep inside a nearby church building. We’ll provide each person with an inflatable sleeping mat, two lightweight sleeping bags, and a pillow. Restroom facilities will be available nearby, though showers may not be. To help with evening cleanup, we’ll supply each team member with large camping wipes. If you have additional comfort or hygiene items you’d like to bring, feel free to do so. The rest of our nights in Chiapas will be spent in one of our dormitories, which feature full bedrooms and bathrooms with showers—offering a bit more comfort and rest after our time in the village. Meals during our stay in the village will be prepared on-site by our team. This will be a special opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and connect deeply with the community as we serve together. We believe this will be a meaningful and memorable experience, and we hope you’ll prayerfully consider joining us.

Who: Open to any individual 18 and older. Students 16-17 can participate with a parent.

Cost: $400.00 per person PLUS your airfare.

The $400 covers lodging, ground transportation, meals, and activities once you arrive in Chiapas, plus basic travel insurance.
Meals on travel days are the responsibility of the participant.
Individuals will book airfare on their own. We have established a flight schedule for the trip, which you can see below. You must book your flights as listed below so we can travel as a group and not create a need for additional airport transfers, etc.

TO REGISTER:

1. Complete the Participant Form and Liability Release: All participants must complete a Participant Form (online) and a Liability Release (pdf download that can be emailed to kpayne@ministrybuilders.org once completed)

2. Pay the participation fee (an invoice will be emailed to you after you complete the participant form)

3. Book your flight
